Trail Guide (Woodlands)

Trail Guide (Woodlands)

The Woodlands Trail Guides are the primary leaders of Woodlands Trail youth. Summary from the Woodlands Trail Leader Guide:

Trail Guides are the hands-on leaders at the Woodlands Trail level. The Troop will usually have many Woodlands Trail Guides. They oversee a particular age-group patrol and are responsible for all management of the advancement of their patrol. A good Trail Guide keeps his Ranger informed of patrol activities and issues and works with other Trail Guides to plan Woodlands Trail level activities

Our troop desires to have three Trail Guides for each patrol (Fox, Hawk, Mountain Lion) working alongside other Registered Adults. The goal is to have teams of men accomplishing the Trail Guide duties. Shared leadership is a core value and important for successful ministry.

Qualifications

Core Duties

  • Work collaboratively with peers to deliver the weekly meeting curriculum, as defined on Trail Life Connect.
  • Ensure a safely supervised patrol meeting, including complying with all youth policies of TLUSA and Frazer Church.
  • Record attendance and release to parent.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Inform Ranger and Troopmaster if unable to attend a regular meeting
  • Pay active attention to troop calendar and announcements to enable communication with patrol members and parents
  • Complete Peak 1 and Peak 2 trainings during first year of service.

Timing of Duties

  • Most Trail Guides are involved in every weekly meeting, although some schedule their participation.
